Are You Listening?

So, I did the unthinkable. I went into the church last night for a concert that my Dad’s band was putting on. (I say this is unthinkable because I am super uncomfortable in the church because of personal issues that I have dealt with in that church.) Therefore, this morning, I have been listening to songs that Dad’s band (Lost Then Found) performed and some other all-time favorites. Now, there are a some songs that always bring me to tears, however, this one in particular ALWAYS makes me cry like a baby. Voice of Truth by Casting Crowns. What is it about this song that reduces me to a childlike state, crying so hard that I can barely breathe? Is it that I hold in so much, and bury it so deeply within me that this small amount of truth resonates so deeply within me telling me that Jesus IS there with me through it all? Is it that I continually try to push the truth to the back and not acknowledge it? Is it that I see and hear of so much tragedy and through it all I continually hear “God is good!” and I wonder “How is this good?”  I see the outcome of situations that we perceive as catastrophic, and yes, GOD IS GOOD. God has brought beauty to many of the horrendous situations that people have been placed in. Now, when I am in the throes of grief over something that has happened, I don’t think God is good. I think”Why is God allowing this to happen?” Is anyone out there with me? Does anyone else think like me, or am I alone in this? What this song is saying is that everything is happening as according to God’s plan, and that it is all ultimately for HIS GLORY. We may not see it immediately, we may not feel it immediately, but, it is true. All of it works out to his Glory and ultimate goal. Tragedies must happen, death must come, tears must fall, but in the end, we know that Jesus never left us, he was carrying us through the times we couldn’t walk the mile. When will I finally learn to stop and listen to the Voice of Truth? There comes a time in everyone’s life when they have to stop, they have to stop trying to solve everything on their own, and they need to lean on Jesus. I’m pretty sure my time has come. I MUST LISTEN AND BELIEVE.

Until Next time, I leave you with the song and lyrics to think it over for yourself.
